In September 2023, the island's first planetarium and the largest observatory in the eastern Mediterranean opened in Cyprus, southwest of the capital Nicosia. After around 1.5 years of construction, this created new conditions for research and innovation in space technology.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and interactive rooms, the planetarium is a focal point for researchers. The combination of education and entertainment also attracts tourists, students and school classes. Visitors can go on fascinating journeys in a VR360 room, take part in interactive shows in the planetarium dome, listen to exciting lectures in the amphitheater or round off the excursion in an adjacent café. The outdoor area is also home to one of the most modern robotic telescopes in Cyprus. This allows the sun and its activities to be observed and studied in detail.
For this impressive project, PohlCon supplied UEBDM V WD stainless steel tube cover units, suitable for wet maintenance. In the planetarium, the black tiles with silver speckles give the rooms a very harmonious atmosphere. The stainless steel units blend in perfectly with the overall look and match the color of the floor perfectly. The units are inconspicuous, but at the same time visible and give the room a visually high-quality touch.
