The Hope SculptureGlasgow, Scotland

The collaboration of over 50 companies, organisations and artists resulted in the art installation "The Hope Sculpture" - a statue on 23-metre-high, elegant columns - in 2021 as part of the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference. It is a gift from the participants of the project to the city of Glasgow, the venue of the conference.

The columns of the sculpture were made from a new, low-carbon, 100 per cent cement-free concrete. Combined with other recycled materials, the carbon footprint of the structure has been reduced by 75 per cent - impressive proof that the construction industry can make a major contribution to reducing global carbon emissions.

PohlCon GmbH was involved in the creation process of this unique art installation as a construction partner. In order to meet the high quality requirements for the columns, PohlCon supplied over 20 metres of RAPIDOBAT® formwork tubes. With the help of these H-BAU Technik brand components, it was possible to give the exposed concrete surfaces of the pillars the optimum structure and shape. The products of the RAPIDOBAT® formwork range show their strength here in creating attractive design elements from the classic material concrete. Whether smooth or structured surfaces, square, hexagonal or as a special shape - the diversity of the formwork tube variants offers plenty of scope for modern and unusual creations. Additional advantages are the recyclability of the materials and, in terms of ease of use, the integrated ripcord, which allows the reinforced concrete props to be stripped quickly and easily.
